Atramedesby Whitelight![]() SoundThe boss is blind, so he tries to "find" raid members with sonar-like abilities. These abilities will increase your "sound" level (indicated through the UI) until you're loud enough to be found. If the boss does find you, he will smash you in the face. Hard. And you will die. To prevent this, avoid all his sonar abilities, which look like wobbly yellow rings. His primary and most frequent ability will send rings out from under his body. This is entirely avoidable, even by melee, who should take advantage of the boss's gargantuan hitbox. There is an unavoidable sonar ability (Modulation) which will increase everyone's sound over time. Your sound level is eventually reset via another mechanic, but there is little room for taking the avoidable sound. Positioning & Sonic BreathThe boss should be tanked dead center in the room. With the tank at 6 o'clock, the melee should be stacked at 9 o'clock, and the ranged near 2 o'clock. We're set up this way for Sonic Breath. Sonic Breath is essentially a flamethrower spell. When someone is "tracked" by it, that person must run clockwise and lead this deadly flame breath around the perimeter of the room. (It also damages nearby players.)
GongsGongs are conveniently placed around the room. Assign one player to handle the gongs. This should be someone with a movement speed ability like Sprint or Dash. Ringing one of these gongs will stun the boss and interrupt his spells. For this reason, the gongs should be rung at two key moments: As a bonus, the gong will also reset everyone's sound and increase damage done to the boss for 5 seconds. You will have a limited number of available gongs in a given fight, so they can't be over-used.
Air PhaseAfter Atramedes takes to the air, he will cast an empowered version of Sonic Breath. Like the ground version, it will track a person, but it speeds up and can eventually catch them. It also leaves a trail of fire. When the gong is rung, the gong-ringer becomes the new target. This is when the movement speed ability is used. To recap: Executing this bit is the hardest part of the fight. The air phase adds one more sonar ability (Sonar Bomb). This is a missile that strikes a random location on the ground. A circle pulses on this location before the missile strikes, though, so it's easily avoided. Posted: 02/19/11 | Filed Under: WoW, WoW Raiding
