Lord Rhyolithby Lady Wenaeleyn![]()
Rhyolith is one of the most ancient elementals in existence, born from the primordial fires that forged Azeroth itself. He is responsible for the creation of new elementals in the Firelands and still possesses a searing hatred of the titans for what he considers monumental arrogance in relocating him.
Positioning and AssignmentsThe Lord Rhyolith encounter only requires one tank. It is best to have a pretty even split between ranged and melee dps. When the fight begins, Lord Rhyolith cannot be tanked. The tank, healers and ranged dps should all group up in the middle of the platform. Melee dps will be attacking Rhyolith's legs for the majority of the encounter.
Obsidian ArmorLord Rhyolith begins the encounter with 80 stacks of Obsidian Armor, which reduces the damage he takes by 80% (1% for each stack). The raid can remove stacks of this buff by causing Rhyolith to step on any active volcanoes, which appear when the boss uses Concussive Stomp. This will be the job of the melee dps and it will probably take several attempts to get the hang of how to "steer" the boss around. Each time he loses a stack of Obsidian Armor, Lord Rhyolith will gain a stack of Molten Armor. This buff is removed every time he uses an ability. AddsWhile the melee dps are driving the boss around the room, the rest of the raid will have two different types of adds to deal with. Only one type of add will be up at a time, which is why only one tank is needed. Fragment of Rhyolith About 5 of these will spawn at one time. They have low health and must die quickly. They will explode after 30 seconds, dealing damage equal to their remaining health to a random player. The tank should just group them up in the center and have ranged dps AOE them down. Spark of Rhyolith Sparks of Rhyolith will do a pulsing AOE to anyone within 12 yards. The tank must gather them quickly and tank them away from the raid. Kill these adds quickly because of their Infernal Rage. Liquid FormOnce Lord Rhyolith's health reaches 25%, his armor will fall off and he will begin casting Immolation. This is constant AOE damage and will last for the rest of the encounter. The entire raid should immediately group up in the middle. Healing cooldowns should be used here to keep the raid up. Heroism should be used to finish off the boss as quickly as possible, while the healers pull out all the stops to keep the raid alive. Posted: 06/26/11 | Filed Under: WoW, WoW Raiding
