Valiona & Theralion

by Whitelight

    Basics

The key to this fight is knowing when to stack, when to spread out, and when to run away.

You fight one dragon at a time, while the other flies around.

These two phases alternate throughout the encounter:

    Valiona Grounded

    Positioning
Spread out to avoid splash damage from Twilight Blast. It targets a random raid member and will also harm other nearby players.

    Blackout
When Blackout is cast, everyone except the tank stacks on Valiona's tail. When enough people are stacked, we dispel Blackout from the affected person. It asplodes for significant damage, which is split among all the stacked people. You want to take care of this quickly so you can spread out again.

    Devouring Flames
This is a purple fire breath with a massively wide radius cast on a random person, much like the one in Grim Batol. While we are spread out in this phase, don't stray too far from the boss---being close enough to get behind her is very helpful. If you find yourself caught in the breath, run out, and keep in mind that you will take less damage when you are farther from the flame's source.

    Dazzling Destruction
These swirly purple things are indeed dazzling, but they are also are bad---stay out of them. If by some shameful mistake you find yourself struck and thusly transported to the Twilight Realm, avoid pink stuff and find a portal to get out. Dazzling Destruction signals the end of this phase.

    Theralion Grounded

    Positioning
The boss is tanked in the middle, and melee stack on the tank. Ranged spread out evenly around the circle. When Twilight Meteorite targets a ranged player, they must run to the melee group. This is required because Twilight Meteorite is a shared damage spell (like Blackout).

    Fabulous Flames
This creates a fabulously large void zone under a random player. When this affects a ranged player, simply strafe away. When it affects melee, move and try to remain stacked.

    Engulfing Magic
With our current strategy, this only adversely affects melee. Ranged players will be far enough from each other and can simply continue as usual. When you get this, your damage and healing will be doubled for the duration. The catch is that all of that will be duplicated as AoE damage in your vicinity. Solution: melee just stops attacking when they get Engulfing Magic.

    Deep Breath
One third of the room will be engulfed in flames three times. Avoid it. Deep Breath signals the end of this phase.
